May not seem like it, but winning this award is not easy… that and I rode Mountain Creek back in the day. You guys who think it’s a mess now, back then it was just crazy, our park was just one or two thin metal handrails and maybe one hit, really just a pile of snow with an icy take off and landing.

JOE HESSION :: VP, GENERAL MANAGER :: MOUNTAIN CREEK, N.J.

Joe began his career at age 14 as a parking attendant at Vernon Valley Great Gorge, currently known as Mountain Creek. Since then, Joe has steadily worked his way up the ranks, having held a position in just about every resort department—from rental technician to rental manager, F&B manager to lodging director, and from director of mountain operations to his current role as VP, general manager.

Joe has consistently demonstrated amazing versatility in approaching new roles. He challenges obstacles objectively, diving deep with analysis and a balance of process application and people skills, resulting in success. Without exception, each area he has touched has improved in guest satisfaction, employee satisfaction, and contribution to the bottom line.

Joe is a passionate skier, snowboarder, terrain park enthusiast, certified ski patroller, and event producer with an appreciation for the value of experiential marketing.

“From his teen years as a rental tech to his current role as the general manager of Mountain Creek, Joe has consistently proven to be one of the most passionate, innovative, and inspiring people I have ever met in the business,” says one of his nominators.

Hopefully nobody burns this one down!

The Winter May be Over, but the Action is Just Getting Started!

To Our Faithful Fans,

It’s late April and the last of the snow from the 2010-2011 winter season is just about gone. Looking back, it was one crazy, snowy, fun-filled year! We broke records and had powder days-a-plenty with the snowiest January in history. We played host to a myriad of events, contests and greeted special guests like professional snowboarders and NJ natives, Danny Kass and Tim Humphreys, and Frends Crew members Danny Davis and Kevin Pearce. It’s hard to believe another amazing winter has come and gone. So, with the 2010-11 winter season now behind us, we’d like to say a sincere thank you to you, our guests who make it all possible.

BUT… Just because the snow is gone, doesn’t mean that the excitement will stop. In addition to the openings of mountain biking at Diablo and the waterpark in the coming weeks, we have an explosion of new resort development taking place at Mountain Creek this summer. Currently, we are pouring the foundation for what will be our brand new Red Tail Lodge located at Vernon Peak. You will also see a bunch of new amusement options opening this summer and fall like; our new Mountain-Top Zipline adventure and Mountain Coaster (think the next evolution of the Alpine Slide). Yes! The ACTION is back at Mountain Creek! Be sure to keep up with of all the latest news and updates on our New Additions page of our website.

Nothing about south, but I’ll post it anyway cause the “Mountain-Top Zipline adventure” and “Mountain Coaster” sound neato.

From here on out it has everything to do with Mother Nature! Our plan is to operate both Vernon and South straight through the 21st, take a breather Monday through Friday and re-open @ South Terrain Park March 27 & 28. And of course we have our Annual April Fools After School session in April 1 in The Bear Base Hike Park.

The video is a little bit deceiving, nobody is standing under any of the hits or in the way of any of the rails. Other then it’s some good riding and worth checking out.
